Elburg..
Elburg is very picturesque and photogenic with its alleys, the old harbor where you can also find the old fishing boats, the dike, the gate and the beautiful museum in a 15th century women’s monastery. The town is built remarkably straight, with straight streets and a straight city wall. The historic core is only 250 x 350 meters in size. Elburg is seen as one of the best preserved Hanseatic cities.
In the center you will find numerous restaurants and cafes. Here you can eat out and have a drink. And all without traffic, because Elburg is car-free.

But you can also visit the center by bike, but also the nice old town of Oldebroek with its historical museum or ’t Harde with the A.Vogelgarden and Estate Zwaluwenburg with one of the coolest and most beautiful 18th-century country houses in Gelderland.
For a day trip or excursion through Elburg there are various options from which you can choose.

The Gruit House. Gruit stood for the ingredients needed for beer, such as gale and hops. Herbs were traded in this house, but beer was also brewed.
The Saint Nicholas Church. In 1963 the spire burned down after a lightning strike and after that there was not enough money to restore it.
The Arent thoe Boecophouse, the city castle and oldest house in the city, striking because of the columns with balcony. It belonged to steward Arent thoe Boecop who decided to move the city in 1395. The old city suffered a lot from flooding and he was given this house as a thank you.
The Krommesteeg. One of the few non-straight alleys in Elburg. Popular photo object and nice walking street.
